"When you have finally finished writing the book, that inevitably you have thought and talked about for an age, there is an enormous feeling of accomplishment, and rightly so. They say everyone has at least one book in them. That may well be, but for most people that is where their book stays, inside them. The effort and dedication it takes to produce a book is a mountain that is simply too high for most people to climb. However, once the book is written, that is only the beginning. What is the point of writing a book that no one ever reads? Whether you want the book to earn you money in its own right, or whether you have written the book to gain credibility and as a spin off for other work; without anyone knowing about it, those desires will never be satisfied.
The hard work started only after my book was written. I quickly made a list of the marketing tactics that I felt would be appropriate to promote the book. Timelines were then drawn up, detailing; what needed to be done well before the book was published, as it was being printed, on publication and then after it had been released.
Setting up pre-orders for the book, leveraging partners and obtaining testimonials all had to be done a long time before the book was published. Among the vast array of activities that were undertaken while the book was being printed included; contacting the relevant media, agreeing deals on publishing excerpts and contacting the right trade associations as well as organising special offers through partners for the day of release. Well it worked. The day the book was officially launched we hit number 9 on the main Amazon Chart just behind the likes of Eric Clapton and Nigella Lawson.
To continue the momentum book signings and radio interviews, amongst other activities, were organised. The book became one of the biggest selling books on Sales in the UK and I am now working on my second title at the moment.I would advise all those who really do want to put the book inside of them on the outside not to give up on their idea - follow the steps I did and you too could be on a path to publishing success!"
