E-books for all...
Stanford University have announced that they are joining forces with Coutts Information Services to provide students with access to a wide range of e-books. The University has acquired more than 22,000 titles from Coutts, a supplier of books to libraries. These include 7000 from Oxford University Press, 3000 from Cambridge University Press and 12000 from Springer.
Stanford then agreed a deal with Myilibrary who will host the e-books. Myilibrary is a reference tool for academics, researchers and professionals, providing users with access to the most current and topical e-books available. This is a landmark agreement that shows University libraries are striving to ensure students have access to a range of study materials.
There are also many advantages to the libraries to provide e-books. It will now mean that any number of students can use the e-book at the same time, without needing to wait for a copy to be returned to the library. It also means that there will be a reduction in processing times, theft and required shelf space.
